FAQ
What’s the point of The MarketFighter Strategy?
Most investors either stick to index investing or try to beat the market through active stock picking. Very few succeed in outperforming the market over multiple decades. I spent 15 years attempting to “crack the code” until I came up with this strategy in February 2021.
It has outperformed the MSCI World Index in 25 of the past 26 years. I have personally traded it for 5 years and have yet to find another strategy with this level of consistency and risk-adjusted returns over such a long horizon.
How does the strategy work?
The strategy is entirely systematic. There is no human decision-making or gut feeling involved. It relies on monthly price data and nothing else. Based on relative price momentum between specific months, it selects the ETF with the highest historical probability of outperforming for the coming month.
This process is applied to two categories: Sector ETFs and Factor ETFs. Combining the two — always holding the strongest asset of each category — increases the diversification and robustness of the strategy. Finally, a simple drawdown protection layer is applied, based on the same principles of monthly price patterns that historically predicted further declines.
How easy is it to follow the strategy?
If you have a standard brokerage account and 15 minutes a month, you can follow this strategy. No need to follow news, study businesses or learn to analyze the market. All you have to do is subscribe, open the monthly trading signal (which you will receive on or before the first trading day of the month) and buy or sell a maximum of two ETFs for the month to come.
Who is the author behind The MarketFighter?
I’m a computer scientist and software engineer with a lifelong obsession with beating the markets. My background in data and engineering allows me to see the market through a different lens than typical financial analysts. I live in Denmark with my wife and my two sons. I’m working towards securing financial independence for my family using this trading strategy.
Why are you making your strategy publicly available?
Initially, I didn’t. I traded it personally for five years until I realized it was too significant to keep to myself. I want to help others achieve the same results, as I know how difficult it is to find a reliable edge in the market.
While the newsletter is currently free, I may turn it into a paid subscription service in the future. This would allow me to treat the research as a professional service while diversifying my own income alongside trading the strategy myself.
